Abstract
The article attempts to raise the question of the extent and nature of the influence of professional wrestlers, who continued their careers as politicians, on political processes in the Republic of North OssetiaAlania. The degree of their presence in the Federal Assembly and the regional parliament, their biographical characteristics, features of their selfpresentation and discourse about the state are analyzed. The analysis made allows us to cast doubt on the legitimacy of identifying professional wrestlers as a separate category of political actors. The conclusions formulated potential directions for further research of the problem.
