Abstract
The article analyzes the history of the instrumental use of the political charisma of the post-Soviet «trench heroes» on the example of Vladimir Shamanov and Igor Strelkov. It is noted that in the post-Soviet period the relationship of the Kremlin and «trench heroes» has always been difficult in the sense that the Kremlin saw in the last challenge to its own political and ideological monopoly. The author examines various aspects of the difficulty of Strelkov as a heroic figure to the Kremlin. It has been shown that he is problematic as Putin’s rival for the role of leader of the «Russian world», and as a potential rival of Putin in the upcoming presidential election of 2018; that charisma of Strelkov represents a challenge to Putin’s charisma; that Strelkov is problematic as the person who stands out sharply from the «power vertical»; finally, Strelkov especially dangerous as the ideologist and the spokesman of Donbas political and social alternative. In conclusion of the article the two directions of integration of Strelkov in regime are analyzed.
